Alice Amelia Innes was a landscape painter who worked mainly in oil. Records conflict whether she was born in Shoreditch, England in 1883 or in Ontario, Canada in 1890. She studied at the Ontario College of Art and taught at the Port Hope School of Art where she was Assistant Instructor. During her career she lived and worked across the country including Toronto (1930-45), Barrie (1946-48), Vancouver (1949), Oakville (1905-55) and Woodstock (1958-70) where she exhibited at the Little Theatre building. She had an extensive exhibition history including the Royal Canadian Academy from 1930 to 1947 and the Art Association of Montreal in 1943 and 1945, as well as the Studio Club, the B.C. Society of Fine Arts, and the B.C. Artists Annual Exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery. She died in Woodstock in 1970.
