Fall of the Leaf was the first of Sybil Andrews' linocuts that resembled more a landscape then a study of labour or modernity. It was followed in the next two years with two additional trees in motion studies with Storm 1935, and Tumulus 1936.
"Andrews added texture and depth to the flat shapes of her landscape by cutting cross-hatched marks directly into the block" Hana Leaper, Sybil Andrews Linocuts: A Complete catalogue.
