This painting is an unusual example of an abstract composition, titled “Arrangement ‘62”. This exciting new style for Beament was likely the same painting exhibited in the Royal Canadian Academy exhibition in 1964 and chosen to be illustrated in the Royal Academy’s catalogue for that year. Possibly the only work of abstraction ever produced by Beament, it looks to have been inspired by Lawren Harris’ abstract paintings of the 1940s.

Thomas Harold Beament is best known for his popular paintings of the Arctic and its inhabitants. His paintings are found worldwide and often exhibited in Canadian embassies as they represent the "True North". Beament held exhibitions at both Watson Gallery in Montreal and solo shows at Laing Gallery in Toronto. Many of his paintings were used in the unique war effort art project to produce a series of silkscreens by Sampson-Matthews Limited.
